Art Education


	Bactria Cultural Centre, as the cultural actor of ACTED’s activities, is fully devoted to provide access to information and to vocational training. Educational activities aimed at artists and art professionals are organized with the firm belief that an understanding of national identity as well as social changes and development can originate from active participants of society. The role of an artist is, and always has been, the observer, the analyzer, and the initiator.

Library


	One of the main information points in Bactria is its library, which has a collection of books in Tajik, Russian, English, German and French, focusing on mostly culture and history. Art books on the works of Michelangelo, Levitan, Vrubel, Aivazovsky, Theophanes the Greek, movies of Russian and Western avant-garde, and Italian Renaissance are the most valued pieces of the collection.

Language Courses

Bactria Cultural Centre is pleased to announce the opening of an advanced French group taught by a French teacher.

Come and register!

Course contents and structure
This group will be taught General French, and include a preparation for DALF exam.
There will be 3 lessons per week, during 12 weeks. Each lesson lasts 2 hours. The session thus includes 72 hours of teaching (6 hours per week).

Courses fee
The fee for the whole course is:
- 500 TJS for employees;
- 350 TJS for students.

BACTRIA: mission and educational services

As a result of the continuous degradation of Tajik educational structure, from a unified primary and secondary education under the Soviets, today barely 60 percent of Tajikistan's current school-age population is receiving educational opportunities. Through opportunities for learning and vocational training BACTRIA aims at democratizing access to information and education.

More than 400 students per year attend BACTRIA's language classes (English, French, and German) which are taught by an educational team of 14 teachers supervised by an expatriate director of educational programmes. BACTRIA also fulfils a crucial role by disseminating information about scholarships and study programmes abroad. Thereby, BACTRIA has established itself as a key and complementary structure to the pre-existing Tajik educational institutions.

BACTRIA also combines a series of free services for anyone wishing to develop their skills and gain knowledge about other cultures:
- a library containing a wide collection of films and books in English, French, German, Russian and Tajik,
- weekly film screenings in original language with Russian sub-titles,
- weekly thematic discussion Clubs (French, English, German) led by native speakers.
These services are very popular and attract a large number of visitors.

Music

Bactria Cultural Centre is engaged in projects that further capacity building and development of music industry in Tajikistan. First of all, it offers a venue to musicians through the organization of regular concerts where they can freely practice their creativity. We impose no limitation in the direction of musical genres, but we do promote world music and experiments based on the combination of traditional and contemporary music.
