On the eve of the holidays of Kurban Bairam, Christmas and New Year, Bactria Cultural Centre opened the doors of its art salon "Tillo Teppe" (translated Golden Peak from dari). In collaboration and with the support of the non-governmental international French organization, ACTED, the project was organized with the purpose of offering help in the development of handicrafts industry in Tajikistan. "TilloTeppe" became a selling point for many handicraftsmen from Khujand, Shartuz, the Pamirs and Penjikent. Opening the doors of "Tillo Teppe" you can familiarize yourself with the culture and the distinct characters of each of the handicrafts and their makers. Arriving to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the art salon, you can enjoy the large variety of goods, presented by the organization "Yak House". You will find handicrafts like stylish bags, bed and kitchen accessories, headdresses, carpets, all made in the national spirit, which combines contemporary practicality with traditional beauty. A distinct feature of these handicrafts is the embroidered patterns, playing with colors, in which significant meaning is embedded, telling century-long histories and legends, passed on from generation to generation. The Tajik artisans have preserved their ancient methods of making the handicraft products to this day. Each pattern can tell us stories about artisans’ life, even the colors give us information about their feelings and the regions where the products were made. You will find that each item has its own originality and are one of a kind, made from natural materials, like cotton, flax, wool, mountain goat and yak hair. By buying a souvenir for yourself or for a friend, guest, you not only support the development of handicrafts industry in Tajikistan, but also keep a part of Tajikistan as a memory. We are looking forward to having you as our guest. |
